The Curious Dreamlife of Marshmallow Addie - Volume 2

Marshmallow Addie was sad. His friend Yellowbottom the Hookah had been mean to him. Firstly, the car-exhaust fuelled sunset had been eaten up prematurely by dark and gloomy clouds and when he went looking for the silver lining, Yellowbottom burned right through it and set fire to his two apple world below. Addie had only asked for a quiet life - instead he was given a handshake of carbon monoxide.

Some of his closest friends had been The Griffins, even though he hardly knew them. He personally got along better with Cohiba the Robust and her cousin Demure Macanudo (though Addie secrectly considered him a little stale and harsh - with all his jokes about ageing between hags' legs.)

Cohiba was a nice lass in a robust sort of way and it was she who led him to the Griffins after Yellowbottom had been mean. It was an odd dream, because he hardly knew the Griffins and Addie ended up playing a new game he learned with Macanudo. It was called 'Puff and Puff' and Addie turned out to be a great learner and gave a terrific fight to Macanudo, who'd practically been built for the game. After a hard fought hour and a half, no clear winners emerged and both conceded that it had been a tight draw... though not without a subtle hint of cocoa.

Yellowbottom was consigned to an ashen silence and stagnant water. Meanness doesn't pay and it only means you get a week off from work. In Addie's case, it meant a day off, and then he was up and about being a marshmallow again. Or pretending to be one - he'd by now lost track of which was which.

The two apples watched quietly, perched atop their familiar nicotine and sugar drenched shelf-top vantage point. Funny how things turn out, because they were a world in themselves, really. A world that was quite a drag...
